A new initiative at Utica University is expanding career advancement opportunities for registered nurses, at a cost-savings for residents of New York state.
Beginning in January 2026, students admitted to Utica’s RN-to-BSN program will be guaranteed admission into the M.S. Family Nurse Practitioner program upon completion of the undergraduate degree, provided academic standards are met.
The RN-to-BSN program is specifically designed to provide licensed registered nurses a pathway by building on their existing experience and knowledge. The curriculum is focused on advancing skills in leadership, evidenced-based practice, and patient-centered care. The program is delivered online, with practice experiences in the areas of quality improvement and community health. The program offers multiple start dates throughout the year to further accommodate the busy schedules of working nurses.
RNs in New York state receive a reduced tuition rate of $295 per credit hour. That reduced tuition rate applies only to undergraduate courses.
The M.S. Family Nurse Practitioner program, which is also delivered in an online format with a three-day campus residency, prepares registered nurses with a bachelor’s degree for advanced practice roles. The new initiative provides registered nurses a seamless transition between the bachelor’s and master’s degree programs.
